Riepilogo

The ISDN board SX2 QuadBRI needs to be configured before first use. This article gives an overview about the possible configurations.

Before the SX2 QuadBRI card is installed into the machine you have to configure the line mode and line termination.

The following description assumes you have the card in front of you with the RJ-45 jacks on the left side and the PCI connector pointing in your direction.

  • TE-Mode should be configured using an public ISDN line directly or if SwyxWare will be configured as an Sub-PBX.
  • NT Mode should be configured connecting an external Sub-PBX or ISDN phones directly.

On the left side you see four RJ45 connectors. For each port you see an assigned jumper block with 5 jumpers each. If all 5 jumpers on the block are jumpered left, then you have the NT-mode for this port selected. All 5 jumpers on the right means TE-mode. Be sure that you always have the 5 jumpers in line and not jumpered arbitrary. So you can configure NT mode ports and TE mode ports on one board.You also need to configure the line mode in software after you have installed the ISDN driver software.

A port configured for NT-mode can be powered by an optional external power feeding module. Connect the module to the green connector at the upper right side of the board. Please note that you need to set two jumpers on the internal power feeding connector as well. Alternatively you can use an internal power feeding module and mount it on the board. Don't use both modules simultaneously. For each port which should be powered, please set the two jumpers as shown in the picture above. After that you can use your ISDN phone with SwyxWare.

Please note that the power feeding module must only be connected to a line configured in NT-mode. Otherwise that port will be damaged.

  • Using TE mode the termination depends on the cabeling.
  • Using NT mode the temination should be switched on. Usually the SX2 board terminates the S0 bus.On the right side beneath each line's jumper block there is a DIP-switch, which let you select whether the line is terminated with a 100 Ohm resistor or not.

 

If both pins are switched to "ON" then the line is terminated with 100 Ohm, otherwise termination is off. Again be sure that you always switched both pins the same way.

On the board's right side you see a jumper with three pins. Make sure that the jumper settings are ok: Left ("3V3 reg") using an enviroment with 5V, right for an enviroment with 3.3 V.

The board number can be set with the 6 DIP switches located at the upper middle side of the board. The following assignment is valid::

Please make sure that you either assign a board number for all boards in the system or configure all boards for automatic number assignment.

The board provides two connectors with 20 pins each. Those connectors are used to connect two boards with an optional PCM cable. The upper connector is the output and the lower connector is the input. Connect two boards with a PCM cable by connecting the output of the first board with the input of the second board.

LED Status Signalling

On the card's mounting bracket you see 4 LEDs numbered 1 to 4. These numbers correspond with the line number.

The following assignment is valid:

LED off: Layer 1 de-activated
LED red: Layer 1 active
LED green: Layer 2 active
LED green blinking: At least one connection active
LED red blinking: The line is being configured
