Riepilogo

This article describes the configuration of an AudioCodes MP-10x or MP-124 terminal adapter for interoperability with SwyxWare.

Informazioni

Within this article the term " MP-10x or MP-124 terminal adapter " refers to the AudioCodes H.323 FXS multiport gateways which can be used to connect analog devices (phone, fax). The term MP-10x includes the MP-102 (2-port), MP-104 (4-port), MP-108 (8-port) adapters. MP-124 is a 24-port adapter. These adapters have similar configuration and functionality except for the number of channels. The MP-10x adapters (MP-102, MP-104, MP-108) are using the same firmware; MP-124 has its own firmware.

In the description below, it is assumed that the AudioCodes terminal adapter was purchased from Swyx (or Swyx partner companies) and therefore already uses the firmware and configuration tested by Swyx (current firmware version 4.20.28.853 ).

If the from Swyx purchased Audiocodes didn't run the correct Version, a zipped package including the firmware and initialisation files is available on request at Swyx support. The appropiate initialisation file can also be downloaded separately using the links of this article. A description of a firmware update and the configuration changes could be found in the second part of this article.

The configuration of the AudioCodes terminal adapter can take place via a web interface by entering the IP address as the web address, for example:

http://10.1.10.10

How to determine the IP address of the AudioCodes Terminal Adapter

  1. Connect the AudioCodes terminal adapter to the IP network. If DHCP is used (default setting as delivered), the adapter has a new, associated IP address. This can be determined in several ways:
    • The MAC address is listed on the bottom side of the AudioCodes terminal adapter. This address can be used to determine the assigned IP address in the log file of the DHCP server.
    • Alternatively, you can also determine the IP address via the serial interface of the device. To do this, connect the AudioCodes terminal adapter to a PC using an RS-232 cable. The network settings will be shown in a terminal program (115200 bps, 8N1, hardware) after a restart of the AudioCodes terminal adapter.

If the AudioCodes terminal adapter is still in the state it was delivered in, i.e. it was not yet used in an environment with DHCP and if you do not use DHCP, the adapter will have the IP address 10.1.10.10.

In order to cause the AudioCodes terminal adapter to register at SwyxServer, the H.323 alias and the IP address of the SwyxServer must be configured as the gatekeeper address.

How to configure the AudioCodes Terminal Adapter

  1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the AudioCodes terminal adapter as the web address. The web configuration of the adapter and a window for entering username and password will appear.
  2. Enter the parameters given as delivered. Please pay attention to upper and lower case when making entries!
    • User name: Admin
    • Password: Admin
  3. Confirm your entries by clicking on "OK".
The " Quick Setup " page opens.
  4. Open the page " Protocol Management | Protocol Definition | H.323 Protocol Definition ".
  5. Configure the following parameters:
    Parameter Value
    H.323-ID H.323 alias of adapter
    (e.g. "AudioCodes")
GateKeeper IP address IP address of SwyxServer
  6. The phone numbers of the adapter's analog ports are configured in " Protocol Management | End Point's Phone Number ". In the default setting, the numbers start with 201, i.e. port 1 is associated with number 201, port 2 is associated with number 202, etc.

Each port of the AudioCodes terminal adapter can be assigned to a SwyxWare user. The H.323 alias of this SwyxWare user consists of the concatenation of the adapter's H.323 alias (e.g. "AudioCodes") and the number of the corresponding port (e.g. "202" for port 2). In this example the H.323 alias of the SwyxWare user for port 2 is therefore "AudioCodes202".

Note: If a SwyxWare version less than 4.20 is used only ONE SwyxWare user could be configured for each AudioCodes terminal adapter! All phone numbers of the adapter must be associated with that SwyxWare user!

How to change the DHCP setting

  1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the AudioCodes Terminal Adapter as the web address. The web configuration of the adapter and a window for entering username and password will appear.
  2. Enter user name and password. The " Quick Setup " page opens.
  3. Open the page " Advanced Configuration | Network Settings ".
  4. Change the DHCP setting of parameter " Enable DHCP: " (default: Enable).
  5. Restart the adapter by clicking on " Reset ".
The adapter keeps the configured IP address.

Update of an AudioCodes Terminal Adapter for Interoperability with SwyxWare

If the AudioCodes Terminal Adapter was not purchased from Swyx (or Swyx partner companies) you should make an update of firmware and configuration. For interoperability with SwyxWare the AudioCodes terminal adapters must use a tested firmware (current version 4.20.28.853 ) and a suitable initialisation file. On request the Swyx support will provide you with a zipped package including these files. Please inform the support about the type of the AudioCodes adapter (MP-10x or MP-124). The zip file includes the firmware (file with extension .cmp), a pre-configured initialisation file (extension .ini) and a file for call progress tones used in Germany (call_progress_germany.dat). The appropiate initialisation file can also be downloaded separately using the links of this article. Update and configuration should be done as follows.

How to update the firmware

  1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the AudioCodes terminal adapter as the web address. The web configuration of the adapter and a window for entering username and password will appear.
  2. Enter user name and password. The " Quick Setup " page opens.
  3. Open the page " Software Update | HTTP Download ".
  4. Click on the " Browse... " button of " Send CMP File from your computer to gateway " and choose the firmware file with extension .cmp.
  5. Start the firmware update by clicking on " Send file ". The adapter is downloading the firmware and restarts after that.
  6. You may check the current firmware version after the update. Open the page " Status & Diagnostics | Versions ". The " Version ID: " should now show the firmware version "4.20.28.853".

After a successful firmware download the configuration should be updated using the initialisation file with extension .ini.

The initialisation file is a text file, which is subdivided into two parts. The first part called " 1) User Parameters " is intended to be changed by the user. The second part called " 2) IpPbx Interoperability Parameters " includes parameters that are necessary for SwyxWare interoperability and they usually should not be changed.

How to change the initialisation file

  1. Open the initialisation file using a text editor.
  2. If you do not use DHCP, change parameter "DHCPEnable = 1" to "DHCPEnable = 0".
  3. Change the IP address of parameter "GatekeeperIp" by entering the IP address of SwyxServer.
  4. Change the H.323 alias of parameter "H323IDString", if desired.
  5. Change the phone numbers of the adapter's analog ports using parameters "Channel2Phone". Remove the semicolon in front of further "Channel2Phone" parameters if you use an AudioCodes MP-104 or MP-108 terminal adapter.
  6. Save the initialisation file after the changes.

How to download the initialisation file

" button of " Send INI File from your computer to gateway " and choose the initialisation file with extension .ini.
  5. Start the initialisation file download by clicking on " Send file ".
  6. Restart the adapter by clicking on " Reset ".

The call progress tones (CPT) of the adapter can be changed to country specific tones by CPT file download. The above mentioned zip file includes a call progress tones file for Germany (call_progress_germany.dat). Note: It is possible to create your own country specific file. See AudioCodes documentation for further details about "Call Progress Tones".

How to change the call progress tones

" button of " Send Call Progress Tone File from your computer to gateway " and choose the CPT file with extension .dat.
  5. Start the call progress tones file download by clicking on " Send file ".
  6. Restart the adapter by clicking on " Reset ".
